This season, Michigan State is scoring 83.7 points per game which ranks 21st in all of college basketball. The team’s offensive success is due to its unselfish nature. The Spartans are currently averaging 20.2 assists per game which is the most in all of college basketball this season. The team’s offense is led by star guard Miles Bridges who is averaging 17.7 points per game. If Michigan State plans on winning this contest, Bridges will need to have another great game.
Purdue’s success is also due to its high scoring offense. This season, the Boilermakers average the 26th most points per game in all of college basketball with 83.2 points per game. Its scoring offense is due to its elite three point shooting and unselfish style of play. Purdue is currently shooting 42.7% from the three point line and the team ranks eighth in all of college basketball in assists per game. This combo makes Purdue almost impossible to outscore which is what Michigan State will have to do on Saturday if it wants to win this contest.
As for my prediction, I have to side with Michigan State. I personally think that these two teams are relatively even but I think that Michigan State’s home court will provide enough of a spark to allow the Spartans to win this contest.
