UConn Star Field Hockey Player Charged With Shoplifting $34 Worth Of Makeup

Charlotte Veitner, a 22-year-old University of Connecticut’s women’s field hockey team player, has been arrested for allegedly stealing $34 worth of makeup for a campus bookstore.

According to reports, Veitner, 22, was detained on Sunday, February 4 at the university bookstore after staff told authorities that Veitner tried to hide the stolen items in her bag. Veitner was detained after surveillance footage showed concealing cosmetic items inside her purse.

The security footage showed Veitner pay for a separate item and begin heading toward the door when the staff stopped her.

“We are aware of the arrest and will have no further comment at this time,” a spokesman for UConn’s athletic communications department said.

Veitner, a native of Germany and an engineering major scheduled to graduate this year, was an All-American during her past two seasons.

She was the nation’s leading scorer last season, with 34 goals, 9 better than the next highest scorer. She became the team’s all-time leading scorer in early October, more than a month before she scored the two goals that gave the Huskies a 2-1 victory over Maryland and their fifth national field hockey title. The team went 23-0 on the season, which ended in November.

Veitner was the nation’s leading scorer last season with 34 goals.
