Aaron Paul was born and raised in Idaho, the son of a Baptist minister. After graduating high school, he moved to Los Angeles, working as a movie theater usher and competing as a model. At this point in his career, Paul’s earliest acting roles were appearances in music videos, like Korn’s Thoughtless and Everlast’s White Trash Beautiful. He also appeared in television commercials for products like Juicy Fruit and Vanilla Coke. He also appeared as a contestant on The Price Is Right before becoming famous.

One of Paul’s first big acting roles was the recurring character, Scott Quittman on HBO’s Big Love, with 14 appearances, starting in 2007 and last on the show until 2011. His breakout role, however, was crystal meth dealer Jesse Pinkman on Breaking Bad. Originally, the character was meant to have been killed off during the first season, but the character and Paul’s performance were popular enough to keep him on the show for five seasons. The character’s popularity helped Paul win the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series three years in a row, in 2010, 2012 and 2014, making him the first actor to win three times since drama and comedy were given separate awards. Paul also cameoed as Pinkman during a couch gag on an episode of The Simpsons, “What Animated Women Want.”
