Hewitt’s first big break came when she was a child actor has landed a role on Disney Channel’s Kids Incorporated from 1989-1991.

After a few years of various television roles, Hewitt became a household name when she portrayed Sarah Reeves Merrin on the hit Fox television show, Party of Five (1995-1999).

Hewitt landed her first starring film role in Little Miss Millions (1993). That led to her appearance as a young choir member in the film Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1993) alongside Whoopi Goldberg.

Hewitt landed an even bigger success as a film star with her turn in the horror film, I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) where she played Julie James opposite other young stars Ryan Phillippe, Sara Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. She also starred in the film’s sequel in 1998.

In the music industry, Hewitt had released albums during her Party of Five years. She juggled her acting and music career. Her albums failed to chart until the single “How Do I Deal” (1999) from the I Know What You Did Last Summer motion-picture soundtrack shot to No. 59 on the Hot 100.


2000-2010

Hewitt starred in The Audrey Hepburn Story (2000). In 2001, she starred opposite Sigourney Weaver in the film Heartbreakers and in The Tuxedo (2002) with Jackie Chan.

She had the lead role of the Ghost Whisperer (2005-2010) which became a widely popular television show for CBS. She also starred in the Lifetime film, The Client List (2010), for which she won a Golden Globe nomination and the movie would spawn a series on Lifetime later.

In 2009, she made her foray into comic books as an author and also published The Day I Shot Cupid (2010) where she spoke of her experiences with love and dating.


2010-Present

Hewitt starred alongside Betty White in the Hallmark Hall of Fame film, The Lost Valentine (2011).

She continued with the success of The Client List (2012-2013) on Lifetime for another year.

Hewitt then appeared as Agent Kate Callahan in Criminal Minds from 2014-2015. Hewitt became pregnant with her second child during the production of the season and left the show with the possibility of further appearances left open.

Since 2004, Hewitt has remained inactive in the music industry, but 2013, she recorded a cover of “I’m a Woman” to promote the second season of The Client List and shot a music video for the song, which reached the top ten in the iTunes Music Video chart.

Today, the actress worth $18 million, takes to Instagram to share posts of her quiet life as wife and mother.
