The 2018 Australian Open is the first Grand Slam tournament of the 2018 season. Grand Slam tournaments are the four most important annual tennis events. They offer the most ranking points, prize money, media attention and the greatest strength and size of the field.
The Australian Open will be played at Melbourne Park between January 15-28 and will be sponsored by Kia, like previous years.
This tournament marks the 106th edition of all time, 50th edition in the Open Era, and the 200th overall Grand Slam event of the Open Era.
The tournament consists of singles, doubles and mixed doubles play. Junior and wheelchair players also compete in singles and doubles tournaments.
