The 18th ranked Miami Hurricanes head over to South Carolina to take on the 19th ranked Clemson Tigers in an ACC battle of top 25 opponents. When you think of the ACC conference, you think of North Carolina and Duke, who have dominated the conference for Decades.But those two teams have struggled in conference play with 2-2 records. While Clemson (3-0) and Miami (2-1) have flourished in the conference and are two of the top four teams in the ACC.
Led by senior forward Donte Graham and junior guard Marcquise Reed, the Clemson Tigers have gotten off to a hot start with a 14-1 record. But besides an early win against the 22nd ranked Florida Gators (no longer ranked), the Tigers have not had a tough match-up. We will get to see how good the Tigers really are as three of their next four games are against ranked in conference rivals including Saturday’s match-up with Miami.
Meanwhile, the Miami Hurricanes are coming off a big win on Sunday over their conference, and in-state rival 24th ranked Florida State. The Hurricanes received excellent performances from sophomores Bruce Brown Jr. (20 points), Dewan Huel (23 points) and freshmen Chris Lykes who scored 18 points off the bench. With a 2-1 record in the conference, the Hurricanes look to add to their win column against the Tigers on Saturday, before they take on the Duke Blue Devils on Monday, January 15th.
