The 2018 Consumer Electronics Show has been underway in Las Vegas for this past week, and tech giants from around the globe have been unveiling their latest and greatest products! The show, which is held every January at the Las Vegas Convention Center, is known for being the first place consumers can lay their eyes on the best tech coming soon to all of our homes.

With legendary companies like LG, Samsung and Sony all attending the show, as well as others like DJI, Dell, and even home appliance maker Kohler; CES has been THE place for the freshest new products. From televisions, cell-phones, laptops, cameras and “smart home” appliances; 2018 is looking to one of the best tech years to date!

Since their meteoric rise in popularity in the past couple years, wireless headphones are nothing really new to the masses, but Sony is changing the game drastically in 2018 with the release of the WF-SP700N True Wireless Earbuds! Releasing in four colors for $179, the WF-SP700N True Wireless Earbuds will sport a three-hour battery life, full noise cancellation, and are water resistant! Also, the earbuds come with a charging case that holds two full battery charges, allowing for a nine-hour battery life!

Samsung may not be that well-known for their laptops, but the tech giant is making waves with their latest addition to their “Notebook” lineup. Designed for ease of use and described as a mashup of the Galaxy Note and a laptop thanks to its two in one design; the Notebook 9 Pen will come with a 13.3-inch touchscreen display and will come with a built-in stylus to make notetaking even easier, making this a perfect “lap-let” for students!

With our phones getting better cameras with each model, consumers are starting to leave the large camera equipment at home and just using their amazing built-in cameras! Drone maker DJI is looking to capitalize on the trend with their latest foray into handheld phone gimbals, the DJI Osmo 2 Mobile. Sporting a 15-hour battery life, this gimbal will allow users to capture perfect stabilized footage using their cellphone!

NVIDIA returned to CES this year with one huge surprise… that they would be making a 65-inch 4K computer monitor compatible with their low latency G-SYNC technology! Coming with a built-in NVIDIA Shield, this amazing computer monitor comes out of the box ready to play games and use apps without a computer. When hooked up to a PC though, this beast will play any game in perfect resolution and will look amazing on any battle station.

Thanks to a surprising partnership between Intel and AMD, Dell announced their latest 2-in-1 laptop for 2018 with the Dell XPS 15. Consumers will have the choice between an Intel i5 or i7 processor which sports Radeon RX Vega M GL graphics with 4GB of HBM2 RAM to power them through whatever they throw at this computer! The XPS 15 will have a stunning 15.9-inch “UltraSharp 4K Ultra HD InfinityEdge” touchscreen display and will have a battery life of 15 hours thanks to its 75 Wh battery.

Electric cars may not be anything new to the masses with the cars being quickly adopted across the globe, but Hyundai is planning to up the game with their latest model, the Hyundai Nexo. Thanks to a huge fuel cell and new driver assistance technology, the Hyundai Nexo is ready to take on any type of drive thanks to its 370-mile range which charges in just five minutes. The car is expected to be released in the latter half of 2018, and no price has been set.

Sony will be entering the high-end projector game later this year when the release the Sony 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector. This $30,000 projector may not be aimed at the masses, but it does feature some really stunning design choices and internals. Sporting a 2,500- lumen laser projector, the Sony 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector can sit as close as 9-inches from the wall and is able to project up to 120-inches.

Apart from manufacturing computer cards and components, NVIDIA announced that they are working on a new Drive that will help blend the future of automobile technology and AI. Aimed at cars of the future, the NVIDIA Drive Xavier will help new car models add better driving technologies made for keeping drivers safe on the road. The drive won’t be available until later this year, NVIDIA will be sending out samples to companies soon.


2. LG Display’s 65-Inch Rollup Display

LG Displays is a branch of LG’s main manufacturing that focuses on developing and creating new technologies that will fuel televisions and displays of the future! This year at CES, LG Displays unveiled their latest screen which rolls onto a wall from a base at the bottom. The screen, which is paper thin, can roll up as if it were a poster without breaking. The company hopes to use the tech to put it on future screens so don’t expect them in 2018.

Samsung pulled out all the stops this year at CES when they announced their stunning new 146-inch microLED screen. Living up to its nickname, The Wall will release sometime in 2018 and will literally fill consumer’s walls when it finally does come out. Instead of trying to compete with LG with OLED TV’s, Samsung is committed to the microLED display which will burn retinas with its insane glory.
