Dennis Clark, a former nurse from two Kansas City hospitals, has been sentenced to around 13 years in prison for charges of sexually abusing patients while under anesthesia.
What do we know about the case?
While at Johnson County District Court, Clark was sentenced to 12 years and 11 months in prison, one month shy of 13 years.
Clark had pled guilty to one count of aggravated sodomy back in November. Because of his plea, less serious charges involving two other patients were dismissed. In addition, according to The Kansas City Star, further misdemeanor charges against Clark that alleged he exposed himself to neighbors were also dropped.
The incidents were believed to have taken place in Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park and Providence Medical Center, both found in Kansas City, Kansas. The incidents are believed to have taken place in 2010 and 2011.
Who is Dennis Clark?
Police had first been investigating Clark back in May 2014, after a patient reported the assault; in time, two other women reported similar incidents. By the time a fourth victim came out against Clark, two counts of rape and two counts of aggravated sexual battery were added to three counts of aggravated sexual battery.
Further charges against Clark are still pending in Wyandotte County. Upon being charged, Clark lost his registered nursing license.
After finishing his prison sentence, under the plea deal, Clark will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
