Welterweight Fight: Robbie Lawler vs. Rafael Dos Anjos
Round 1: Both men exchange shots in the opening round. Lawler fights Dos Anjos into the corner. Dos Anjos locks up with him and hits him with knee shots to the ribs. Both men dodge, duck, and strike. Lawler fights Dos Anjos into the cage again. Dos Anjos holds onto Lawler and prevents him from landing those lethal shots. Dos Anjos is all over Lawler who sneaks in body shots and knee strikes. Lawler breaks out. Dos Anjos throws a shot and misses wildly. Both men are jockeying for position as round one comes to an end.
Round 2: Both men trade shots. Rafael Dos Anjos goes wild, fighting Robbie Lawler into the cage. Dos Anjos hits Lawler in the jaw with a high knee and then fires away with a flurry of shots. Dos Anjos threw a total of 48 punches. Lawler escapes, but Dos Anjos takes him to the mat. Lawler quickly returns to his feet. Lawler and Dos Anjos trade shots. Lawler fights Dos Anjos into the cage. Anjos pushes him off, but gets him with a knee and eats a jab. Lawler continues the punishment, wearing out Dos Anjos in the corner. But Dos Anjos fights back with knees. Dos Anjos fights out, throws a punch, but the round is already over.
Round 3: The fight continues. Both men are tired, but still fierce. Lawler locks Dos Anjos in the mid-section and both men are brought down to the mat. They’re both visibly tired and struggling. Dos Anjos hits Lawler with a few stiff kidney shots. Both men return to their fight and continue the onslaught. Lawler fights Dos Anjos int the cage. Dos Anjos fights back with knees and Lawler counters with stiff shots. Anjos hits Lawler in the side with knees, and Lawler counters with kidney punches. Elbow landed by Dos Anjos. Lawler falls. Dos Anjos mounts Lawler, struggles, but throws some huge elbows and forearms. Dos Anjos won’t let up. Lawler ends round 3 on his back.
Round 4: Dos Anjos dominates much of round 4 as well, fighting Lawler into the corner with a flurry of shots into the corner. Lawler fights back, but Dos Anjos dominates with punches. Dos Anjos kicks him in the head and continues the punches. Lawler fights back, but is dazed and misses a punch. Dos Anjos counters with a high knee to the jaw to end the fourth round.
Round 5: The fight wears on. Both men are very tired. Dos Anjos keeps the fight on Lawler, but they’re both very slow. The round ends. It appears as if Dos Anjos wins.
