The trailer for Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming science fiction film, Alita: Battle Angel, has finally dropped and everything about it has our jaws dropped to the floor! Based on the hit manga series from the 90’s, Alita: Battle Angel tells the tale of an abandoned and amnesiac cyborg on a quest to figure out what she truly is.

Starring Rosa Salazar as the titular character, the film will follow the origin story of Alita as she is as she is brought back from death by cyber-doctor Ido (Christoph Waltz). With all of her memories wiped and no idea of what she could be, Alita must enter a futuristic world where she has no idea what lurks around the corner. Pushed by her new friend Hugo (Keean Johnson) to trigger her memories back, Alita sets out to take on a world of injustice and learn that she may be the key to saving the world.

Alita: Battle Angel is directed by Robert Rodriguez, produced by legendary filmmaker James Cameron and Jon Landau; the film will be released in theaters July 20th, 2018. The film stars: Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, and Michelle Rodriguez.

Since development began on Alita: Battle Angel back in the early 2000’s, fans of the series have been ravenous to see Alita make her way to the big screen. The film’s producer, Jon Landau, exclusively told COED.com that,

“After acquiring the rights to Alita in 1999, it is exciting to finally be able to start to share her story with the world. What audiences will discover is a relatable heroic character whose journey they will want follow.. “

After the many years of setbacks, fans can finally rest easy now that the film is releasing in theater and IMAX on July 20th, 2018!

With a story that tackles love, empowerment and hope; Alita: Battle Angel looks to be the perfect movie releasing in 2018, especially in the current state of the world. More than ever we need to see more female heroes stepping on to the silver screen and becoming positive role models for everyone. The tale that Alita: Battle Angel looks to tell is one that will inspire people all over the globe for years to come.
