Miss Jamacia Universe Davina Bennett has been making waves on social media after gracing the stage at the 2017 edition of Miss Universe in Las Vegas with a full-blown afro. The gorgeous Jamacian model finished in third place in the world-famous beauty competition.
Many people on Twitter are in-love with her ‘fro, and one outspoken South African poet believes that Bennett should have won the competition. “I hate taking something I know belongs to someone else….the Miss Universe title belongs to Jamaica,” tweeted poet Ntsiki Mazwai. “You don’t have to agree with my opinion for me…Miss Jamaica should have been the winner. No doubt in my mind.”
Mazwai wasn’t the only one who felt that Bennett got robbed.
Twitter users praised Bennett for her natural hair and outstanding beauty.
Bennett is all natural, baby!
Bennett spoke with the Jamacia Observer in September and talked about embracing the beauty of short, natural hair. “Short, natural hair which I feel should be embraced more, and not ignored.”
The social-democrat People’s National Party of Jamacia congratulated the 21-year-old model for her performance at the 2017 Miss Universe competition. The party released a press statement, which said, “While she finished third out of a field of nearly 100, Ms Bennett has won the hearts of many, at home and abroad and for us Jamaicans, she is first rate, classy, and holds the number one spot.”
