Leeann Tweeden, 44, is a radio host, model, and former sports commentator, who made headlines after alleging that Minnesota Senator Al Franken “forcefully kissed” and “groped” her during the 2006 USO Show. Tweeden currently appears on the Los Angeles morning radio show McIntyre in the Morning. She previously worked as a correspondent for Fox Sports Networks’ The Best Damn Sports Show Period from 2001 to 2007.
According to the allegations, Franken had written a skit which included kissing Tweeden during the 2006 USO Show. She states that Frank insisted upon rehearsing the kiss. At first, Tweeden refused, but later agreed after feeling “badgered.” She said, “We did the line leading up to the kiss and then he came at me, put his hand on the back of my head, mashed his lips against mine and aggressively stuck his tongue in my mouth.”
Tweeden said that she pushed Franken away, feeling both “disgusted and violated.”
The model also claims that Franken groped her breasts while she was asleep. Recently, a photo resurfaced, showing Franken’s hands above Tweeden’s breasts, looking back at the camera with a smile. Franken responded to the controversy, stating that, “I certainly don’t remember the rehearsal for the skit in the same way, but I send my sincerest apologies to Leeann….As to the photo, it was clearly intended to be funny but wasn’t. I shouldn’t have done it.
Tweeden has since accepted the senator’s apology. She said, “The apology, sure, I accept it, yes. People make mistakes, and of course he knew he made a mistake, so yes, I do accept that apology.
Recently, another woman reported to the press that Al Franken inappropately touched her while taking a picture.
