Leeann Tweeden, 44, is a model and radio host who was born in Manassas, Virginia to Bill Tweeden, a retired Air Force Chief Mechanic and her mother Catherine.
After graduating from Osbourn Park High School in 1991, Tweeden moved to Hollywood to pursue a career in modeling. In 1992, while working at Hooters restaurant in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Tweeden won first place in the Venus International Model Search, which led to national exposure. Following her Model Search win, Tweeden began a regular role as a fitness model on the TV show Fitness Beach. Tweeden then began modeling promotional work for Hooters, Venus International, and Frederick’s of Hollywood.
From 2001 to 2007, Tweeden was a correspondent for Fox Sports Net’s Best Damn Sports Show Period, and in 2008 Tweeden became the hostess of the NBC late-night television series Poker After Dark. Also in 2007, Tweeden was featured as the cover girl on the final print issue of FHM. In 2009, Tweeden became the public face of the website Rethinking Autism, which uses a series of videos to educate the public about autism
Beginning in February 2017, Tweeden became the host of the Los Angeles morning radio show ““McIntyre in the Morning” on KABC.
On November 16, 2017, Tweeden published a story saying that Senator Al Franken had kissed and groped her without her consent.
via KABC:
“He repeated that actors really need to rehearse everything and that we must practice the kiss. I said ‘OK’ so he would stop badgering me. We did the line leading up to the kiss and then he came at me, put his hand on the back of my head, mashed his lips against mine and aggressively stuck his tongue in my mouth. I immediately pushed him away with both of my hands against his chest and told him if he ever did that to me again I wouldn’t be so nice about it the next time.
The tour wrapped and on Christmas Eve we began the 36-hour trip home to L.A. After 2 weeks of grueling travel and performing I was exhausted. When our C-17 cargo plane took off from Afghanistan I immediately fell asleep, even though I was still wearing my flak vest and Kevlar helmet. It wasn’t until I was back in the US and looking through the CD of photos we were given by the photographer that I saw this one [the photo]. I couldn’t believe it. He groped me, without my consent, while I was asleep.”
Tweeden met her husband, Chris Dougherty, a retired Air Force pilot for the California Air National Guard, during a USO tour. They married in 2010. They have two children, son Kane and daughter Kaia.
