Lil Peep, a singer, rapper and YouTube star whose full-length album dropped recently, has died at the age of 21, according to multiple reports.
The Long Beach-born emo/hip-hop artist, real name Gustav Åhr, was just 21 years of age. While reasons for his passing have not been revealed, reports indicate that his cause of death was an overdose.
Peep’s manager Chase Ortega broke the news on Twitter, saying “I’ve been expecting this call for a year. Mother fuck.”
Peep’s songs “White Wine”, “Benz Truck”, and “The Way I See Things” have each gained over 4 million views on YouTube. His first album, Come Over When You’re Sober (Part I), was released on August 11, 2017.
The Come Over When You’re Sober tour to promote his debut album began on August 2, 2017 and was scheduled to end on November 17, 2017.
One day before his death, Lil Peep posted an Instagram photo with the caption “When i die You’ll love me”:
Åhr was born on November 1, 1996 in Long Island, New York. He was raised in Long Beach, New York. His mother, Liza, is a first grade teacher in Long Island. She is of German and Irish descent, while Åhr’s father is of German and Swedish descent.

21-year-old rapper Lil Peep died of a suspected overdose of Xanax.
Åhr posted a video online hours before his death, saying he had taken prescription drugs and other substances, saying: “I’m good, I’m not sick”.
