Latrelle Lee, a defensive end at Tennessee State University, has been expelled from the school after he punched strength coach T.J. Greenstone during the game on Saturday, November 11.
The assault happened during Saturday’s game against Southeast Missouri State at Hale Stadium. Lee was immediately dismissed from the sideline by head coach Rod Reed for improper misconduct and was later expelled from both the team and the university.
According to The Tennessean, Greenstone’s job is to keep players away from the sideline to avoid getting penalized. At this time, there is no word on what caused Lee to strike Greenstone.

The Tigers offense was on the field at the time as Greenstone walked down the sideline telling players to move back if they were too close. Lee is seen in videos hitting Greenstone twice on the side of his head. Greenstone falls to the ground after being punched.
Lee, 6-foot-2, 240 pounds, was majoring in criminal justice. In 2016 he made the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll. He started in two games this season and six last season. He played in a total of 16 games during his freshman and sophomore seasons.
He did not play in Saturday’s game. Lee recorded a total of 18 tackles including 3.5 for loss this season.
Tennesse State athletic director Teresa Phillips released a statement regarding the video:
“We, of course, do not condone any act of violence within our department and are very disturbed by the action of one of our students. We are committed to supporting the coach who was personally affected and our concern now is with him.”
Greenstone, who played defensive tackle at Vanderbilt, is in his fourth season coaching at Tennessee State.
Lee, a senior from Dothan, Alabama who was majoring in criminal justice, was expelled.
