Red Sox Legend Bobby Doerr Dead At The Age Of 99

Boston Red Sox legend Bobby Doerr has passed away at the age of 99-years-old. He played his entire 14-year baseball career for the Boston Red Sox. At the time of his death, Doerr was the oldest living former major league player.

A nine-time all star, Doerr batted over .300 three times, drove in more than 100 runs six times, and set Red Sox team records in several statistical categories despite missing one season due to military service during World War II.

Doerr began his Red Sox career in 1937 at only 19 years old. He batted .288 with 2,042 hits, 381 doubles, 89 triples, and 223 home runs in his career.

Doerr is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. He is survived by his son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
