Mahad Abdiaziz Abdirahaman has been arrested after two men were stabbed at the Mall of America in Minnesota during what police called an ‘interrupted theft’. The 20-year-old suspect is currently in custody.
According to Bloomington police, the incident happened Sunday night in the first-floor dressing room area of the Macy’s department store. Reportedly, the first victim was stabbed after he returned to the dressing room and confronted Mahad Abdiaziz Abdirahaman, of Minneapolis, who was allegedly attempting to steal his belongings.
Furthermore, a second victim was also stabbed trying to stop the initial theft and stabbing.
Police say both stabbing victims suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The Mall of America was not placed on lockdown, as Deputy Chief Mike Hartley said the rest of the patrons were not in any danger.

Bloomington police responded to Macy’s at the Mall of America at about 6:44 p.m. on a report of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they learned the incident started after a theft was interrupted.
Police say the stabbing happened in a dressing room at the Macy’s store. Authorities say a suspect was trying to steal belongings from another person in the fitting room, was confronted by the person and then stabbed the person. A second person was also stabbed trying to stop the initial theft and stabbing. Police say both stabbing victims suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities say only the Macy’s store was placed on lockdown during the incident. Police identified the suspect as 20-year-old Mahad Abdiaziz Abdirahaman of Minneapolis. He’s being held on two counts of first-degree assault.
Bloomington Police Chief Jeff Potts said “the suspect went in and tried to take some property and, when confronted, he produced a knife and stabbed one man. Some family members assisted the victim and a second man sustained another knife wound.”
The Mall of America has more than 520 stores and attractions that include an amusement park and an indoor zip line.
