Canadian actress Ellen Page recently made headlines for describing sexual remarks made that “outed” her by the cast and crew during the filming of her recent X-Men: The Last Stand film, in ongoing stories of sexual harassment in Hollywood. As she would eventually explain, inappropriate behavior like this was not an isolated incident, even for an actress like her.

Page has had a prominent career as an actress, even having some big roles released even before she became more well-known.

According to The Richest, Page’s net-worth is $14 million. Looking at her career, she has had roles in many prominent films even before roles that made her a household name.

The Early Years

A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Page’s earlier roles came out of Canadian films and television, like Pit Pony, Trailer Park Boys and ReGenesis. One of her first starring roles was the 2005 film, Hard Candy, where she played a young girl who plots revenge on a local sexual predator. It was in 2006 in which she appeared as superhero Kitty Pryde in X-Men: The Last Stand.

2007-2010

For many, Page’s breakout role was Juno in 2007, where she played a teenager who deals with getting pregnant and giving her child up for adoption, filmed in British Columbia. During the time, she also became known for her roles in Smart People and An American Crime, the latter of which had Page play murder-victim Sylvia Likens.

2011-2014

Page co-starred in the Woody Allen film, To Rome with Love in 2011, where she appeared alongside other stars like Penélope Cruz and Alec Baldwin. In 2014, she reprised her Kitty Pryde role in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

2015-Present

Other films she appeared in since her breakout roles include Into The Forest, where she also served as a producer, and My Life as a Zucchini. She also became the host of the TV series, Gaycation.

Addressing sexual harassment as an actress

As mentioned, Page recently addressed harassment during the earlier filming of her first X-Men film, in which she had discussed being outed before realizing it herself. As she explained, As she claimed on her Facebook account, the film’s director had made a comment on an older woman having sex with her to help her come out. “I knew I was gay, but did not know, so to speak. I felt violated when this happened. I looked down at my feet, didn’t say a word and watched as no one else did either,” she added, according to The Los Angeles Times. Reportedly, she also claimed to have endured inappropriate behavior during the filming of the aforementioned Woody Allen movie.
