First Baptist Church Shooting: Full Story & Details

Multiple people were killed, with others injured, during a shooting at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, Texas this Sunday morning, according to police.

The shooter is dead; the exact number of victims is unknown at this time

The actual shooter was also killed finishing a brief chase into a neighboring county, although it is currently unclear if the shooter’s life was taken by police or was an act of suicide.

At this time, while it is known that many people have been killed and injured in the shooting, although the exact number of casualties is currently unknown; that said, it is known that victims are being treated at the nearby Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville. According to an eyewitness, 20 shots could be heard starting at around 11:30 AM, taking place during a church service.

The FBI is also getting involved by responding to the scene of the shooting, according to the FBI’s San Antonio field office spokesperson, Michelle Lee, with local police also responding to the scene.

“My heart is broken,” said Wilson County Commissioner Albert Gamez Jr., according to CNN, adding, “We never think where it can happen, and it does happen. It doesn’t matter where you’re at. In a small community, real quiet and everything, and look at this, what can happen.”

President Donald Trump, who is currently in Japan during his first trip to Asia, released his condolences to the victims on social media.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott also offered his prayers on social media.
