If you want to make a splash, you go to Vegas–that’s just Marketing 101. For Unrivaled Tabletop Series 2017, it wasn’t enough for them to be the world’s largest tabletop gaming series, they needed to take it to the next level. So Unrivaled decided to bring the best gamers in the country to Las Vegas, hire actor Wil Wheaton and comedian Bryan Callen to host, and give the Grand Prize Winners some serious cash. The event will be hosted at the Jubilee Theatre at Bally’s from October 28th-October 29th.
We’ve been covering the Unrivaled Tabletop Series for some time here at COED, specifically the regional qualifiers. For the past year, Unrivaled has been going to the biggest cities in North America and finding the best tabletop gamers in some of the most popular games: King of Tokyo, Munchkin, Ascension, Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards, Nevermore, and Villagers & Villains. But now the best of the best will go head-to-head in Vegas.
The qualifying winners are being flown out to Sin City, hosted at Paris Las Vegas, and being wined and dined at a VIP Halloween party before things begin to get serious on October 28th.
Are we fully expecting some of the winners to go off and blow their Grand Prize at the poker or roulette table? Absolutely. But that’s what happens when you go to Vegas. Take your winnings, double-down on some other game, and hope to come out on top.
If you weren’t able to qualify for the Unrivaled Tournament yourself, you can still watch the action by grabbing yourself a ticket here.
