The Yankees offense finally came alive in Game 3 of the ALCS, as the Bronx Bomber defeated the Houston Astros 8-1 to set up a Game 4 that could see them pull even in the series.
On the mound for the visiting Astros is Lance McCullers, who was an All-Star for the first time this season. McCullers has faced the Yanks twice this year and gave up three runs over 11 1/3 innings with 13 strikeouts and two walks. He’s been much more effective at home (3.04 ERA) than on the road (5.14).
Starting for the Bronx Bombers will be Sonny Gray, who came over from the Oakland Atheltics in a mid-season trade. Gray’s command was as off over his last two starts — his regular-season finale vs. Tampa Bay and his Game 1 start vs. Cleveland — as it has been all season. The righty allowed three runs on four walks and three hits in his ALDS loss to the Tribe.
