Tiffany Cordes, a 27-year-old former Ohio high school teacher, faces up to a year-and-a-half in prison after she admitted to having a sexual relationship with a student.
Cordes, 27, pleaded guilty on Thursday, October 12, to a count of sexual imposition, which is defined as “the touching of another person’s erogenous area” under Ohio state law.
After school administrators became aware of the charges, she was fired and banned from school property. Cordes was fired from her job as a teacher at Union Local High School in Belmont County, Ohio.
Cordes’s relationship with the 18-year-old boy after the mother of the victim caught him texting with the teacher and contacted police. The boy told investigators that Cordes admitted to him that she had “hooked up” with another student.
Reports state that the incident took place after the student helped her haul prom supplies in his pickup truck
Sentencing is set for 9 AM on October 27, and if convicted, Cordes could face a maximum punishment of up to 18 months in prison.
Furthermore, as part of her guilty plea, she is required to register with authorities as a sex offender.
