Yesterday, we showcased the end-of-the-year CBS schedule for College Basketball, but who are you rooting to win? The Bleacher Report has its list of the top 10 seniors for the 2017-18 season.
Just who is on the list?
10. Jaylen Adams, St. Bonaventure
2016-17 Stats: 20.6 PPG, 6.5 APG, 3.7 RPG, 2.1 SPG, 35.6 3P%
For starters, a St. Bonaventure senior making it on the national list already makes Adams a threat. If anything is in his corner, he played all 40 minutes 25 times in the past two seasons, or 549 minutes on the floor, so you know he has experience.
9. Gary Clark, Cincinnati
2016-17 Stats: 10.8 PPG, 7.9 RPG, 2.1 APG, 1.2 BPG, 1.0 SPG
Clark’s biggest card to play is win shares, and he is one of six players over the past three seasons to make at least 15.9 win shares.
8. Jock Landale, Saint Mary’s
2016-17 Stats: 16.9 PPG, 9.5 RPG, 1.7 APG, 1.2 BPG
As Sports Illustrated explains, “Landale was the focal point of opponents’ game plans in 2016-17. That will continue in 2017-18…Landale should be able to dominate inside in WCC play during his senior season.”
7. Angel Delgado, Seton Hall
2016-17 Stats: 15.2 PPG, 13.1 RPG, 2.2 APG
Delgado had been a threat back when he was a freshman, when he averaged 13.2 points and 14.0 rebounds per 40 minutes. Hopefully, he’s also aged well now that he’s become a senior.
6. Trevon Bluiett, Xavier
2016-17 Stats: 18.5 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 2.1 APG, 37.1% 3PT
Back in September, SB Nation wrote, “The star is, without question, Bluiett. The senior flirted with the NBA after a season in which he averaged 18.5 points per game (37 percent from three) and 20.5 points during the postseason.”
5. Jevon Carter, West Virginia
2016-17 Stats: 13.5 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 3.7 APG, 2.5 SPG, 38.9% 3PT
With Carter being labelled “the unofficial captain of this group of seniors,” the original listed even credited him directly with West Virginia’s growth as a team.
4. Joel Berry II, North Carolina
2016-17 Stats: 14.7 PPG, 3.6 APG, 3.1 RPG, 1.4 SPG, 38.3% 3PT
Berry already made himself a rarity when he was nmaed the NCAA tournament’s most outstanding player and returned for another season, following Joakim Noah in 2006, Kyle Singler in 2010 and Luke Hancock in 2013.
3. Bonzie Colson, Notre Dame
2016-17 Stats: 17.8 PPG, 10.1 RPG, 1.6 APG, 1.4 BPG, 1.1 SPG, 43.3% 3PT
With Colson’s three-pointers, 46.1% came in the final 22.2% of Notre Dame’s season. To put it into context, he already proving that he was just warming himself up!
2. Devonte’ Graham, Kansas
2016-17 Stats: 13.4 PPG, 4.1 APG, 3.1 RPG, 1.5 SPG, 38.8% 3PT
Graham managed to make high numbers in spite of a rather low usage. Some of the other names on this list have experience on their side, this might be Graham’s time to shine.
1. Grayson Allen, Duke
2016-17 Stats: 14.5 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 3.5 APG, 36.5% 3PT
The original list puts it best, “Hate on the guy all that you want, but there is not a more noteworthy senior in college basketball. Frankly, it’s hard to remember the last time there was one.”
