The Chicago Bears, a team who find themselves last in the NFC North will host their injury-riddled division rivals, the Minnesota Vikings in this week’s Monday Night Football matchup. Bears rookie quarterback, Mitchell Trubisky will make his NFL debut stepping in for the struggling veteran, Mike Glennon. The Vikings look to make the best out of a situation that leaves them without their star running back, Dalvin Cook.
After tossing five interceptions through just four starts, Bears quarterback Mike Glennon will sit out during this week’s Monday night matchup against Minnesota. In his place will be Mike Trubisky, a rookie who ended his preseason campaign with 3 touchdowns and a superb passer rating of 106.2. Coaches are hoping their first-round pick could carry over the impressive accuracy and mobility he displayed prior to the regular season and possibly prove himself as a permanent starter.
With two of their star players succumbing to injury this early in the season, the Vikings will have their work cut out for them this week as they try and bring themselves above .500 for the second time this season. While Minnesota coach Mike Zimmer is hopeful that his quarterback Sam Bradford will be ready for Monday night, rookie sensation Dalvin Cook will most likely be out for the remainder of the regular season. Cook was third in the league in rushing with 354 yards on 74 carries until a torn ACL placed him on injury reserve. Now the Vikings will look to former Raiders back, Latavius Murray to carry the majority of the workload against a Bears defense that has only allowed an average of 85 rushing yards per game this season.
We should expect a close game between a strong defensive team in Minnesota and a hungry and healthy Chicago team led by rookie hopeful, Mike Trubisky.
