Let’s wind the clocks back a couple of weeks, to when Jerry Jones did this:
During their Monday Night Football game against the Arizona Cardinals on September 25, the Dallas Cowboys, with owner Jerry Jones included, kneeled before the national anthem as a show of protest. As ESPN’s cameras panned by the Cowboys, Jerry looked right into the lens as if he was actually looking into the soul of America.
It seemed, at the time, that Jerry had chosen his players first amendment rights over the petulant whims of Donnie Freedom.
Well, guess what folks: Jerry Jones is still a seedy as ever, as now its come out that Jones will bench anyone who “disrespects the flag” (easy for him to say after his stars already confirmed they would stand — just imagine if Dak & Zeke decided to kneel).
via ESPN:
Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said emphatically that his players will stand for the national anthem and not disrespect the flag, and if they do, the player or players will not play.
“If there’s anything that is disrespectful to the flag, then we will not play,” Jones said after the Cowboys’ 35-31 loss to the Green Bay Packers. “Understand? We will not … if we are disrespecting the flag, then we will not play. Period.”
The topic was raised after Vice President Mike Pence left Sunday’s game between the Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers after more than 20 Niners knelt during the national anthem with their hands over their hearts, as was the case the previous week.
So, just to recap, Jerry will happily employee and support woman beaters like Greg Hardy and Ezekiel Elliot (allegedly), but will bench anyone who exercises their first amendment rights. Okay, got it.
And while I have you, I’ll just leave this data here:
