Jenny Parks was a kindergarten teacher in her mid ’30s, who was one of 59 people killed in the deadliest shooting in United States history. She’s a resident of Lancaster, California, who attended the Route 91 Harvest Festival concert with her husband Bobby. She was also the mother of two children, named Bryce and Leah.

The shooting occurred on Sunday at around 10 P.M. when suspected mass shooter 64-year-old Stephan Paddock opened fire from his room on the 32nd floor of a Mandalay Bay hotel, across the street from the concert. He fired down upon the crowd below, causing 59 deaths and 527 injuries. Authorities are still investigating the motive in the shooting, and are still clueless as to why someone who commit such a murderous act.

Who Was Jenny Parks?

Jenny Parks worked as a kindergarten teacher for the Westside Union School District, ABC7 reports. She is survived by her parents, her brothers, her husband, Bobby, and her two boys. Her son Bryce just started high school, while her daughter Leah is in elementary school.

Jenny was “absolutely beautiful and very intelligent, had a wonderful sense of humor and was so kind,” Bobby’s uncle, Dr. Steven McCarthy, told People Magazine.

McCarthy said that Jenny just got her Master’s in Education this May. He also told People Magazine that Jenny and her husband were high school sweethearts, and she was planning a surprise party for his 40th birthday next week.

“We are a very resilient family and everybody will bond together,” McCarthy told People. “But this will be very hard for him. It’s a major loss.”

Bobby required surgery for his injuries he suffered during the shooting.

Alex Mahany, a Las Vegas bartender, reported meeting Parks before the festival. He wrote about the experience on Facebook and felt blessed to have known her.

“This was the last thing I received from a friend I met at the festival,” he wrote in a caption with a photo. “Her name was Jenny Parks. A kindergarten teacher from California. She is survived by her two kids, husband, two brothers and parents. In the 3 days she hung at my bar she had a bright personality and always had a smile on her face. I feel grateful and blessed someone could come into my life for even for a short period and graze me with her presence. Rest easy Jenny.”

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help assist Parks family, especially her husband and two children. In two days, her page has earned almost $50k.
