Pahrump School Lockdown: Full Story & Must-See Details

Early reports indicated that there was a shooting at a school in Pahrump, however, the Director of Nye County Emergency Management has since clarified the situation was a lockdown.  The Director of Nye County Emergency Management announced there was no shooting, but that a known felon on school grounds, prompting the lockdown.

According to the Nye County Sheriff’s Office, all Nye County and Town of Pahrump government offices have been closed in Pahrump as precautionary measures, including the courthouse on Basin Avenue. The public offices in Pahrump were closed as a precaution.

Local outlet KTNV is currently trying to obtain more information as to why parents and other locals thought there was a shooting.

Two elementary schools have been cleared and one middle school is currently being cleared.


Update 2:35 PM EST:

According to the Director of Nye County Emergency Management, there was not a shooting at any of the schools in Pahrump.

The director says that a known felon brought his child to school today. As a result, all of the schools in Pahrump were put on lockdown. Sheriff’s deputies are now clearing each school.

Since the late 1970s, Pahrump has grown almost exponentially, increasing from about 2,000 residents in 1980 to 32,000 in 2017.
