Epic Games’ ambitious upcoming free to play co-op sandbox survival video game (currently in paid early access), Fortnite, has unveiled their latest addition to the game: a Battle Royale game mode. Similar to PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS, Fortnite Battle Royale will pit 100 players in a frantic last man standing match set in a vast map while a blue ring of death slowly forces all the players to the same vicinity, encouraging players to fight rather than hide.
Utilizing the building nature of Fortnite’s gameplay, Fortnite Battle Royale will allow players to build and destroy to get the advantage on their enemies. The chaotic and frantic nature of Fortnite only adds to the fun of this Battle Royale mode allowing for fun and memorable moments to be had.

Releasing on September 26th, Fortnite Battle Royale will launch for FREE on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One; regardless if you own Fortnite or not. You can download the game on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, or the Epic Games PC Launcher when it launches.

While Fortnite will be a free-to-play game when it officially launches in 2018, but players can get in on the action early by purchasing one of the game’s “Founder’s Packs”. Buying into the early access allows players to get a number of in-game “Pinata” loot boxes and a number of in-game banner icons.
Fortnite’s main gameplay puts four players in a wide open map tasked with different objectives with the overall goal of being survival. While crafting weapons and building hideouts, players will be tasked will killing off the “Monsters” of the game. The game’s building mechanic feels very familiar for players of Minecraft while the four player co-op and “Monsters” are very reminiscent of the classic Left 4 Dead.

While we wait for the September 26th release date of the Fortnite Battle Royale mode to launch, Epic Games has gone on to shed some light on the upcoming standalone release. The developers, who have expressed their love for Battle Royale games like PUBG, knew that Fortnite’s buildable and destructible world would be a perfect fit for the game mode.
Set in one wide open map, 100 players will glide down off a flying bus to craft items, make shelter and hunt their enemies down. As the match goes on, players will be forced into the same vicinity by a blue wall of death making players take out their enemies (like PUBG). Gamers can expect all the frantic and explosive nature of Fortnite with the addition of this new game mode.
Players can choose to take on this new mode by themselves in a 1 vs. 99 mode or team with up three friends to take on the Battle Royale in a Squad based mode. Take on 26 other teams with your Squad to take out your enemies and be the last team standing!
