HBO’s new hit series The Deuce continues tonight at 9 PM EST with episode 2, “Show and Prove”

Created by The Wire created David Simons, The Deuce tells the story of the legalization and ensuing rise of the porn industry in New York beginning in the 1970s. Starring James Franco, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and others, the show delves into the violence of the drug epidemic and the resulting real estate booms and busts that coincided with the change.

The official synopsis of The Deuce “Show and Prove”

Vincent moves into a seedy hotel and contemplates an offer from mob capo Rudy Pipilo; Bobby hopes to take advantage of Vincent’s new connections; filmmaking intrigues Candy; C.C. shows Lori the benefits of having a pimp; Larry feels unsettled.

The show, which gets its title from the nickname for 42nd Street between Seventh Avenue and Eighth Avenue, was created and written by author and former police reporter David Simon and his frequent collaborator George Pelecanos. The series pilot began shooting in October 2015 and was picked up to series in January 2016. The first season will consist of eight episodes.
