Sloane Stephens is a 24-year-old American tennis player who has won five WTA singles titles, including her first major win at the 2017 US Open.
With her 2017 US Open victory, Stephens became the lowest ranked player to ever win the women’s singles title. She also became the first American woman since Jennifer Capriati in 2002 to win a maiden Slam.
Born in Plantation, Florida, Stephens is the daughter of Sybil Smith, a Boston University swimmer who became the first African-American female to be named First Team All-American in Division I history and John Stephens, a professional American football player. Her younger brother, Shawn Farrell, plays baseball and football at Notre Dame High School in Los Angeles.
Stephens, currently ranked world No. 17, is an all-court player, although her preferred surface is clay. She is also dating USMNT striker Jozy Altidore.
