ESPN has released a statement regarding SportsCenter anchor Jemele Hill’s tweets regarding President Donald Trump.

In a brief statement, ESPN said that the “comments on Twitter from Jemele Hill regarding the President do not represent the position of ESPN” and that they “addressed this with Jemele and she recognizes her actions were inappropriate.”

Hill is an American sports journalist who previously wrote a column for ESPN.com’s Page 2 and hosted ESPN’s His and Hers. In June 2013, she succeeded Jalen Rose on ESPN2’s Numbers Never Lie. On February 6, 2017, Hill and Michael Smith became the hosts of ESPN’s flagship SportsCenter.

Jemele Hill Net Worth 2017: $5 Million

ESPN SportsCenter anchor Jemele Hill has a net worth of approximately $5 million at this time. Her salary at ESPN is approximately $1 million.

2000-2006

After graduating from Michigan State, Hill began her career as general assignment sports writer for the Raleigh News & Observer. She then served as a sports writer with the Detroit Free Press from 1999-2005, and as a columnist for the Orlando Sentinel from 2005 to 2006.

2008-2015

Hill joined ESPN in November 2006 as a national columnist on ESPN.com.

During the 2008 NBA Playoffs, Hill was suspended after referencing Adolf Hitler in an article about the then-NBA champion Boston Celtics. Hill wrote: “Rooting for the Celtics is like saying Hitler was a victim. It’s like hoping Gorbachev would get to the blinking red button before Reagan. Deserving or not, I still hate the Celtics.”

ESPN drew criticism for its treatment of Hill, as Lou Holtz also made a Hitler reference in 2008 but was not suspended.

In 2011, Hill and Michael Smith began the podcast His & Hers, which led to ESPN adding Hill to Smith’s ESPN2 show Numbers Never Lie in 2013. The show was renamed His & Hers in 2014.

2015-Present

His & Hers ended in 2017, which led to Hill and Smith taking over the 6 PM SportsCenter.

On February 6, 2017, Hill and Smith became the anchors of ESPN’s flagship show, SportsCenter. Their installment of SportsCenter is called SC6 with Michael and Jemele.

On September 11, 2017 Hill tweeted describing President Donald Trump as a white supremacist. Later in the day ESPN issued a statement: “The comments on Twitter from Jemele Hill regarding the President do not represent the position of ESPN.”
