A photo of a chainsaw-wielding nun has gone viral after the Miami-Dade Police Department posted the picture to their Facebook.
Sister Margaret Ann, of Archbishop Coleman F. Carroll High School, was videotaped cutting a fallen tree in her southwest Miami-Dade County.
The Miami-Dade Police department posted photos and videos of Sister Margaret Ann, writing: “As we recover from #HurricaneIrma, these acts of kindness remind us all that we are #OneCommunity in #MiamiDadeCounty! Thank you Sister and all of our neighbors that are working together to get through this! #MiamiDadeStrong”
Sister Margaret Ann, of Archbishop Coleman F. Carroll High School in southwest Miami-Dade County, was just helping clean up debris after Hurricane Irma knocked a tree down in the neighborhood.
The Archdiocese of Miami announced early Tuesday evening that Catholic schools under its jurisdiction in Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties will remain closed until further notice.
In the video, the nun dons her full habit, partly covered by a black apron, and work gloves to accomplish the dangerous and sweaty task. Some commenters on social media tsk-tsked the nun’s garb, pointing out that wearing loose-fitting clothing while operating a chainsaw is dangerous.
Sister Margaret … both the hero Florida deserves AND the one it needs right now.
