The Minnesota Vikings, a playoff team two seasons ago, host Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints in the first Monday Night Football game of the year. Future Hall-Of-Fame running back Adrian Peterson, who spent his entire career with the Vikings and is their all-time leading rusher, will be making his New Orleans Saints debut.
New Orleans enters the season looking for their first playoff appearance since 2013. However, playing in a division with the Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Carolina Panthers, wins are going to come at a premium in the always competitive NFC South.
As for the Vikings, after starting 2016 at 5-0, they finished the season with 3-8 record, falling out of playoff position. Still led by quarterback Sam Bradford, who was brought in to replace an injured Teddy Bridgewater, the Vikings enter the 2017 season looking to ride their elite defense into the playoffs.
Drew Brees and the Saints are a far different team on the road than they are in New Orleans, so we expect the Vikings to ride their defensive line to a low-scoring victory.
