The University of Florida football team has suspended ten players for its season opener this Saturday against the University of Michigan.
According to ESPN, Florida suspended the ten players for making improper charges on their university student IDs at the school bookstore and then selling those items for cash. One source told ESPN that the cards did not have the proper amount of funds on them to purchase the items.
The suspended players are wide receiver Antonio Callaway, offensive lineman Kadeem Telfort, linebackers James Houston and Ventrell Miller and defensive linemen Jordan Smith, Richerd Desir-Jones and Keivonnis Davis. Starting running back Jordan Scarlett and wide receiver Rick Wells were also indefinitely suspended.

Earlier Wednesday, Florida indefinitely suspended starting running back Jordan Scarlett and wide receiver Rick Wells.
Their suspensions are related to those of seven other Florida players, including star wide receiver Antonio Callaway, for making improper charges on their student IDs at the school bookstore and then selling those items for cash, school officials told ESPN.
“I didn’t expect these,” Florida coach Jim McElwain said of the suspensions later Wednesday. “I don’t expect any more. But at the same time, if there is, it will be dealt with. Some places, who knows? You might try to figure it out. And yet, at the end of the day, the positive is we’re going to handle what it is and not run and hide.
Florida, who enters the season as the 16th ranked team in the coaches’ preseason poll, takes on the Michigan Wolverines, ranked 9th, on Saturday, September 2 at 3:30 PM in Arlington, Texas.
