Anheuser-Busch has always been as American as it gets, and they are further proving that notion with their efforts to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

The Anheuser-Busch Brewery has decided to stop canning beer this week to instead focus their efforts on canning and shipping drinking water to areas hard hit by Hurricane Harvey.

According to a spokesperson for Anheuser-Busch, more than 50,000 cans of emergency drinking water were being sent to Baton Rouge and on to families who may not have safe drinking water in the storm’s aftermath.

The water will be used at Red Cross shelters and distributed by volunteers.

Sarah Schilling, a Brewmaster at the Anheuser-Busch Cartersville Brewery, released a statement of the brewery’s efforts:

“Throughout the year, we periodically pause beer production at our Cartersville, Georgia brewery to produce emergency canned drinking water so we are ready to help out communities across the country in times of crisis. Putting our production and logistics strengths to work by providing safe, clean drinking water is the best way we can help in these situations.”

This is not the first time that Anheuser-Busch has halted beer production to can water, as they have done so during flooding in Louisiana, wildfires in California and now Hurricane Mathew.
