SNL’s Weekend Update Took A Casual Dump On Conor McGregor & Donald Trump For It’s Finale

Earlier this summer, NBC premiered their Summer Edition of “Weekend Update”, the long-time SNL comedy-news staple. While there were initial doubts about the success of a Weekend Update spinoff, NBC, SNL, Colin Jost and Michael Che were able to deliver, not only providing us with the quality of comedy you’ve come to expect from an SNL product but a litany of guest stars as well.

For the season finale, Weekend Update took a shot at Conor McGregor ahead of his super fight with Floyd Mayweather, and Donald Trump after his borderline dystopian political rally in Phoenix. Needless to say, both were home runs.

via Uproxx:

“The show took a shot at the boxing mega matchup between McGregor and Floyd Mayweather by having featured player Alex Moffat play McGregor. Instantly recognizable wearing his famous red turtleneck sweater and white fur with a gold chain combination, the MMA mega star hyped up the match by insisting that kicks would be allowed and just generally insisting that he won’t lose.”

“Tuesday’s Trump rally gave Baldwin plenty of material, starting with Kenan Thompson as the “Blacks For Trump” guy (who may or may not have been paid to be there). He then went on to mock Trump’s “clarification” of his Charlottesville remarks after commenting on the eclipse and declaring “Wow, everyone’s so white here.”

While the McGregor impression may not sound exactly like the man himself, Baldwin’s Donnie Freedom is as on point as ever.
