Welcome to National Georgia Day, folks! On this date, everything is just peachy. And once you peep these memes, Georgia will be on your mind all day long.
On Thursday, August 3, 2017, cyber-America celebrates National Georgia Day for the very first time. This state, famous for its peaches, was the fourth state to join the union. On February 12, 1733, settlers arrived in the first capital city of Savannah. Atlanta later took over as capital of Georgia.
Georgia is also recognized as the final 13th colony before America began her independence from Great Britain.
Ray Charles is famous for his rendition of a 1930s blues song dedicated to the peach state. Ray released “Georgia on My Mind” in his 1960 record The Genius Hits The Road. In 1979, this song was designated as Georgia’s official state song.
