Bomb Threat Reported At Pier 14 at Naval Station Norfolk In Virginia

A bomb threat being investigated at Pier 14 at Naval Station Norfolk in Norfolk, Virginia.

According to reports, officials at Naval Station Norfolk say they are investigating a reported bomb threat at Pier 14. At this time, Pier 14 is on lockdown.

The bomb threat was received via phone call around 6 AM on Wednesday, August 2. At this time, ships are not being allowed to dock at the pier until the threat is over.

No further information is available at this time.

According to base spokesperson Kelly Wirfel, military working dogs were deployed in response to the threat, to sweep various areas of the base.

Wirfel says one of the dogs alerted on a vehicle in the vicinity of Pier 14 around 7:45 a.m. This is at the very northern end of the base.

Wirfel says the pier is on lockdown, and is restricted for pedestrians and vehicle traffic. NCIS is on scene, along with base security.
