I think it’s the general consensus of every living person ever that late 90’s through early 2000’s WWF, known as the Attitude Era, may be the peak of human pop culture.

Between the Undertaker and Kane, Triple H and Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley and Kurt Angle and on and on, the WWF roster, and product, was as great as it ever was and probably ever will be. However, the main reason for the company’s success was due to the charisma and talent of its two biggest stars: The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Responsible for some of the most memorable matches the company had ever produced, The Rock and Stone Cold were the heart of the Attitude Era.

One of the most memorable dynamics of The Rock and Stone Cold’s feud was the way The Rock would sell Stone Cold’s finishing move, the Stone Cold Stunner.

Absolutely preposterous in every way, The Rock reacted to Stone Cold’s finisher unlike anyone in the WWE. And apparently, there was an actual reason. While appearing on Tony Trimm’s podcast, Hannibal Buress, one of The Rock’s Baywatch co-stars, brought up his colleague’s old profession, specifically his selling of the Stunner:

It took The Rock exactly one hour to respond to Buress’ tweet, revealing the previously unknown reason as to why he used to react to the Stunner as if he had just been shot by a .50 caliber sniper rifle:

Beer. Of course, it was beer. I wouldn’t expect anything less from the two greatest, most entertaining wrestlers of all-time.
