Welcome to National Hot Fudge Sundae Day, folks! It’s that time of year for you to indulge upon some sweet chocolatey drippings to complement that ice cream. Tuesday, July 25, 2017, is the official date dedicated to all the hot fudge making your sundaes extra sticky.
C.C. Browns is the inventor of the hot fudge sundae. In 1906, Browns introduced this new creamy concoction to Los Angeles. He sold these sundaes out of his ice cream parlor on Hollywood Boulevard. This style of ice cream received its “sundae” name when druggist Chester Platt attempted to copyright the term “Sunday” for his new cherry syrup ice cream creation.
How do you make fudge?
I’m not talking about going number two. Here’s the ingredients for making fudge (in the kitchen, not the toilet):
- Mix sugar, butter, and milk
- Drop mixture into cold water
- Heat at 240 °F (116 °C)
- Beat the mixture while it cools
