Jerica Enriquez, a 24-year-old former Colorado teacher’s aide, has been accused of having sex with and sending explicit pictures to a 14-year-old boy. Furthermore, Enriquez is also accused of having intimate contact with a sixth-grade student.
According to court documents, Enriquez waived her right to a preliminary hearing Monday as negotiations continued with the Weld County District Attorney’s Office.
Enriquez, a former teacher’s aide at Jefferson Junior High School in Greeley, Colorado, was arrested on Sunday July 16, and charged with sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, obscenity to a minor and enticement of a child.

Both cases originated during the time Enriquez worked as a teacher’s aide in 2015 and 2016. In 2015, according to the affidavit for her arrest, she kissed a student at Prairie Heights Middle School, and later offered to have sex with him. The boy later told police they did not actually have sex.
According to police reports, though, she did have sex with a 14-year-old Jefferson Junior High student in the fall semester of 2016, leading prosecutors to charge her with sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust. Police also say she sent a picture of herself naked to the student, as well as a picture of a negative pregnancy test.
Enriquez has yet to enter a plea in either case. Jim Merson, her attorney, said in court Monday she agreed to waive her right to a preliminary hearing so she could continue to negotiate a possible plea agreement with prosecutors. The preliminary hearing would have determined whether there was enough evidence for the case to go to trial.
