Chuck Blazer helped uncover corruption within his own organization. This former FIFA official has passed away at the age of 72. Blazer’s New York lawyer, Mary Mulligan confirmed his death.
Blazer plead guilty to tax evasion, wire fraud, racketeering and money laundering. But he also cooperated with authorities, in order to bring down top FIFA officials in the 2015 FIFA corruption case.
Chuck was apart of the FIFA Executive Committee from 1996 to April 2013. On July 9, 2015, he received a lifetime ban from FIFA.
At one point, Chuck had a $6,000 a month apartment at Trump Tower, solely for his cats, reports The Washington Post.
Before Blazer got into soccer, he was involved with a successful business manufacturing smiley-face buttons.
What is Chuck Blazer’s Cause of Death?
Chuck Blazer’s official cause of death is rectal cancer, according to The New York Times.
Back in 2014, it was reported that Blazer might be suffering from colon cancer. A New York Daily News article reported that Blazer was “gravely ill” with the disease. But a later investigation by The New York Times revealed that Blazer’s cancer had went away after the surgery.
