Running back DeAngelo Williams is currently looking for an NFL team for the 2017 season, though he has stayed busy with professional wrestling in the meantime. Williams may be 33-years-old, but he has totaled more than 1,200 rushing yards and scored 17 touchdowns over the last two seasons. He could be useful in the right situation.

The NFL vet recently told ESPN he was pretty open regarding a new home, but he did make it clear he wouldn’t sign with four teams: Jaguars, Panthers, Browns and Cowboys. He’s crossed Jacksonville and Cleveland off the list because their teams are pretty much dumpster fires (though the Jags could make progress this season). He won’t sign with Carolina because he felt disrespected with how the team handled his release. “You don’t go back to exes,” he told Adam Schefter.

And he won’t go to Dallas because A) he was a 49ers fan growing up and B) he hates Cowboy fans just as much as the rest of us.

“My fandom for the team I was raised as will not allow me to go to the Cowboys,” Williams told Schefter. “I’m an ’80s baby … and the 49ers ruled the ’80s. The Cowboys somewhat did something in the ’90s; I even refuse to give them that.

“The Cowboys, they win. They just don’t ever show up during the playoffs. They always disappear in the playoffs. I’ve got a great depiction of the Cowboys’ fan base. During the regular season last year, they were on cloud nine. You couldn’t tell them anything because they were going to win the ‘ship — that’s all they said. Fans just got extremely super annoying. Then, the minute they lose, they either got cheated, somebody was hurt — the excuses start flowing. It’s just amazing to me. That fan base just in general can’t handle defeat. Still, to this day, they say that the Dez Bryant catch against the Green Bay Packers was a catch!”

It’s pretty reassuring to hear that longtime NFL players such as Williams agree that Dallas fans are some of the most obnoxious in all of sports. Sure, crossing off teams when you’re fighting for a job may not be the most optimal strategy. But dammit, he’s got his principles! And can you really blame him? I mean, it’s the Cowboys. Yuck.
