Following Donald Trump’s election to the White House, it’s clear that political races and voters have opened up to non-traditional candidates who come from non-political backgrounds. This includes entertainers with charisma like Trump and even Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Some have been calling for the former WWE wrestler turned global movie star to run for public office, including the office of the President of the United States. These supporters point to his magnetic personality and endearing character as reasons why they want him in the Oval Office. Personally, I think it takes a bit more than likability to be president, but there’s no doubt that Johnson is seen as The Man by countless Americans. He’s arguably the biggest celebrity in the world.
He’s also one step closer to actually running for president.
On Sunday, July 9, a West Virginia man by the name of Kenton Tilford filed with the Federal Election Commission to create a committee called “Run the Rock 2020.” Of course, Tilford could have done this on his own accord without any contact with Johnson whatsoever. But it does mean he can run if he so chooses.
And it looks like the creator of the People’s Elbow really does have the People’s support.
So, I guess the only question to really ask is: America, can you SMELLLLLLLLLL what The Rock is cooking?
