Known predominately as the wig-wearing, ruthless mother of dragons, Emilia Clarke portrays one of the most powerful female leaders in fiction. Daenerys Tagaryen is a role model to all and knows how to put down a horse heart, we should all be bowing at the presence of the queen, BOW I SAID!
Not only being a major player in arguably televisions most grandiose spectacle of all time but has steadily carved out a career in Hollywood ranging from romance films to trying to resurface sinking ship franchises like The Terminator.
Born in London in the Fall of ’86, Clarke wanted to be an actress at “this many” years old. She pursued her dreams and her aspirations lead her to performing in several plays in High School and studying acting in the Drama Centre in London. She’s also a bombshell, wig or no wig, but you can take a look for yourself and form your own educated opinion. It can’t be overstated how big of a deal Game of Thrones is and Emilia Clarke playing such a prominent role only guarantees she’ll never have to ride another CGI-imposed dragon ever again after the shows run. But the devil is in the details and we want to know how many details she’s worth.
Emilia Clarke Net Worth as of 2017: $34 Million
With season 7 of Game of Thrones slowly becoming a reality, let’s take a gander at how Emilia Clarke made out this well for herself…
2009-2010
There are a limited number of options an up and coming actor has to gain credits: commercials, soap operas, and courtroom reality shows. Clarke stayed in the middle with her first television credit being on the British soap opera Doctors, where she plays a young woman who’s dad stalks her because not even he can get enough of Game of Thrones. Clarke also had a supporting role in the SyFy movie, Triassic Attack and then was cast as Daenerys Targaryen immediately after, one would have to assume her performance Triassic Attack is what landed her the job in the first place.
2011-2013
A Song of Ice and Fire already had a cult following, but Game of Thrones broadened that fanbase from book staunches to old woman in their late 80’s who relate to Khal Drago’s and Daenerys’ relationship, shame they won’t live long enough to see the conclusion of the show. But Clarke was a standout from the first season of the show due to her quick ascension as the leader of the Dothraki and even earned some Emmy Award nominations, which is the best participation award in acting you can get next to your own Marvel superhero franchise.
The character of Daenerys however can often be one dimensional, but Clarke looked to challenge herself by taking on Broadway’s rendition of Breakfast at Tiffany’s where she played Holly Golighty.
2014-2016
Money isn’t everything to Clarke, since she turned down the lead role to 50 Shades of Grey because she forgot that everyone’s already seen her naked in Game of Thrones, maybe it’s because she couldn’t wear her wig during the scenes. Can’t say it wasn’t a good choice since there’s no joy going around for anyone involved in the 50 Shades franchise, only empty money.
Clarke’s franchise of choice was instead to star opposite 60-year old Schwarzenegger in Terminator Genisys, which had a successful box office showing. Clarke found better success in a smaller project Me Before You, sweeping in on the tragic romantic movie craze in the same vein as Fault in Our Stars.
2017
HBO wants to make sure Emilia Clarke isn’t going anywhere until this story is wrapped up and they put their money where their mouth is with her pulling in $2 million per episode, which is crazy considering she shares the screen with hundreds of other characters. Clarke will also become an element in Star Wars when she stars alongside Han Solo in the Solo Han Solo movie that has been plagued by a troubled development. No matter success Clarke has in film, she’ll have at least one more season of Game of Thrones to fall back on. $2 million really breaks the fall.
