So news broke that Sony is planning a Venom solo movie. Many people wondered who would play him, and though many heroes and villains have worn the Venom Symbiote in the comics, Sony has chosen to go with Eddie Brock (the original Venom and the first to don the Symbiote after Spider-Man discarded it).
Brock will be brought to life by well-known actor Tom Hardy (Inception, Dunkirk). Fans couldn’t be happier with the decision, assuring many the film is on the right track.
Here are some cool facts on the movie according to screenrant:
More than just Red Venom, the Carnage Symbiote and the serial killer that wears it are far more deranged than the film’s anti-hero. With a sadistic personality and powers Venom doesn’t have, Carnage will put Brock’s heroic side to the test…
…The story of Venom is still very much up in the air. We know Hardy will be Eddie Brock, meaning his background as a disgraced journalist could factor into part of the plot. We also know he’ll somehow encounter the Venom Symbiote, though its past connection to Spider-Man is unknown. Venom is also bound to spend considerable time on Kletus Cassady, as the Venom Symbiote births Carnage while the serial killer is in jail with Brock. Beyond that, we can only guess what story the film will tell…
…Word broke recently that Venom was heading to both Atlanta and New York to begin filming this September. As such, a teaser and full trailer will likely be on their way soon. Even before filming begins, we can probably expect Sony to put together a tease for next year’s film.
