Ten years ago today, the world was first introduced to the iPhone. On June 29, 2007, Steve Jobs let loose another apple innovation. And many people have become desperately hooked, standing in long lines, doling out hundreds upon hundreds of dollars at a time to buy the latest iPhone.
Phone addiction is all too real. Some people will sacrifice a whole week’s pay to keep up with the latest telecommunications and multimedia fads. This is a testament to the endless capabilities of an entrepreneur in a capitalist market; figure a way to make your product appear “hip, “so that it effectively makes purchasing this item a social necessity, and then every year, come out with a new slightly altered model and watch the money flow in, baby! It’s beautiful what well-placed peer pressure marketing can do.
