So today the trailer for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle! hit the mean streets of twitter. After watching, the old people of the pre-Y2k era who had come to love the original Jumanji, starring Robin Williams, were foaming at the mouth to take a sh0t at the new trailer.
The original Jumanji tells a tale of two kids, who find and play a magical board game. They accidentally release a man (Robin Williams) who was trapped for decades in it. Also released into the world are a host of dangers that can only be stopped by finishing the game.
…….Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle! takes place during highschool detention. The kids discover an old video game console and are drawn into the game’s jungle setting, literally becoming the adult avatars they chose. What they discover is that you don’t just play Jumanji – you must survive it.
It seems like they changed it from a board game to a video game in a very “attempting to stay hip with the kids” fashion. That’s like thinking the video from the ring wasn’t working so they remake the movie, but instead of the the video being passed around they live-stream it on instagram. C’mon.
What I will say though is that if I had never seen Jumanji (1995), I would without a doubt love the concept of this movie. It looks really funny, and has a ridiculous all-star cast including Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas and Alex Wolff. This will be a must-see for parents who want to take their kids out to the movies, just don’t let them see the original first.
I want to wish the cast & crew the best of luck with the success of this movie, but having said that, here’s twitter’s funniest reactions.
