First thing’s first: Netflix’s new series GLOW is a wonderful comedy with a lot of heart, a great central relationship and interesting side characters. It is fun, funny, enjoyable and sweet all while feeling real. Go watch it if you haven’t already.
Secondly, star Alison Brie (Community, Mad Men) strips down in a few scenes and that is a big plus as well. The courage it takes to do that on camera is damn impressive, but Brie didn’t seem all that phased by it. As it turns out, she’s had some experience in the nude department.
“Getting naked on camera is like ripping off a Band-Aid,” she said in a recent interview with Playboy. “The hardest part is the transition from being in your robe to being naked on set. Once I was naked, it kind of reminded me of my nudist days from college and that feeling of, ‘Oh yeah, I love my body and this is fun and silly and its fine.'”
Wait, what?
You’ll be surprised to learn that Brie had a “sort of clothing optional” learning experience while studying at California Institute of the Arts. Why are we not all attending this haven of higher learning?!
“I don’t know what it’s like now; even in the four years I was there, they had started to crack down,” Brie said. “My freshman year, the Erotic Ball was still happening. Everybody was in different states of undress. There were tents with TVs playing pornography.”
On-screen romances aren’t a big deal for Brie and husband Dave Franco, who noted that he had the “coolest wife on planet Earth” after Brie told him that his sex scene in The Little Hours was “really sexy.”
Speaking on Late Night with Seth Meyers, he said: “I did the scene and it was fine. I went back to the hotel, and she asked how it was and I said it was totally cool. And we left it at that. It is what it is, we’ve both been doing this long enough to know that this is part of the job, it’s a weird part of the job, but whatever…
“Cut to a year later and we were watching the movie for the first time together and the threesome scene starts. The scene ended and there was silence, and she turned to me and said, ‘That was really sexy,’ and thats the moment I knew I had the coolest wife on planet Earth.”
Okay, so right off the bat:#RelationshipGoals.
And Brie, you are not only the coolest wife on planet Earth, you may just be the coolest person period.
