The Rochester General Hospital emergency department in Rochester, New York, restricted visitors after an argument Wednesday afternoon. It is unclear what exactly prompted the restriction.
What Happened?
Hospital officials told the local NBC affiliate that the restriction was put in place after gunshot victims arrived at the emergency department. This is a normal procedure for the hospital. The other departments in the hospital are open. It is unclear what the nature of the argument was or how it has prompted restrictions. News 8 reports that the altercation was related to the shooting.
A representative from the hospital says the hospital is not on lockdown, but is following the routine procedure for when a victim of violence is dropped off at the Emergency Department. Everyone has been asked to stay in place while security does a sweep.
Rochester police were responding to a shooting on Mohawk Street on Wednesday around 1:15 P.M.
It is unknown what exactly police are investigating, or if anyone is injured.
